Title: Old to New
Date: Monday, 02 November 2009 02:06PM
Most of the content of Dragon Age Central has been developer posts to the official Dragon Age forums, first opened in May 2004. But all things must come to an end, and these forums were shut down on 2nd November 2009, the day before the game’s release in North America.
Since I haven’t had time to add much other content to the site for most of 2009, I’ve decided to also shut down Dragon Age Central as it was, leaving it here as an archive. The new Dragon Age Central is now a much simpler (and fully automated) website dedicated to making developer posts to the new official forum (on Bioware’s social site) easier to find and search through. It’s been interesting running this site, and in a way I’ll miss it... but hopefully I’ll be too busy finally playing the actual game to care :) |

Forum posts were made by game developers. Please do not take posts out of context. While these individuals will have special insight into certain game-related questions, they are by no means the final authority. Please read the full topic and all its replies before forming an opinion. Remember, all things are subject to change.

Title: Free Game Competition Results
Date: Monday, 19 October 2009 08:33PM
The results are in for our competition to win a copy of Dragon Age: Origins; Digital Deluxe edition! First I’d like to thank everyone who entered. There was a lot of creativity shown from clear fans of the game. Before we get to our winners, honourable mentions go to:
But 3 entries in particular really stood out for me, making them our well-deserved winners:
I’ll be contacting the winners by email; let me know if you don’t hear from me soon. As for everyone else, don’t forget that whilst you may not have won a free copy of the game, release day is fast approaching and you may want to get your pre-orders in! Direct2Drive have a pre-order bonus of a Dalish Ring (increased effectiveness of healing effects, subtract damage from darkspawn attacks, increase combat health regeneration), which is available on both the DDE and the normal edition (also available in the UK). - edited on Tuesday, 20 October 2009 07:27AM -

Title: Win a copy of Dragon Age!
Date: Thursday, 15 October 2009 08:21PM
Thanks to the kind folks over at Direct2Drive, I have 3 copies of Dragon Age: Origins (Digital Deluxe Edition) to give away in a competition!
All you have to do for a chance to win one is post some original Dragon Age-related content to this website. You’ll need to create an account first if you haven’t got one already. You might post a screenshot of your Dragon Age character (as created in the recently released character creator), some fan fiction set in Thedas, a funny captioned screenshot... use your imagination. Entries must be posted before 12pm GMT on Monday 19th October 2009. They must be suitable for all viewers - think ‘rated PG’. To be eligible to win you must be age 18+ and reside in the US, Canada, UK, or EU. On Monday 19th I’ll pick my favourite 3 submissions and announce the winners. Winners will be contacted via the email address associated with your dragonagecentral account. |

Title: Social site and Character Creator available
Date: Tuesday, 13 October 2009 05:18PM
Bioware released their new social site today. Once you’ve logged in with your official forum username and password and created a social account, you’ll be able to download the Character Creator part of the PC game.
This will allow you to try out making characters, which can then be imported into the full-(PC-only)-game on its release in November. |

The wedding is, in fact, arranged. But you should send Priestly a PM insisting that the wording should be changed on the dwarven origin to, "You take up your first military command, but how you feel about this is unspecified by the game dialogue, and entirely up to you." That would read so much better. |

The Origins flash was designed to work with both Flash 9 and Flash 10; I have personally confirmed that it works with Flash as old as 9.0.31.0. It has also been testing in: Firefox 3, IE6, IE7, Opera 9.50, Safari for Windows, and Google Chrome. The only browser that has a confirmed issue loading this flash piece is Opera 9.6+, which we are still trying to debug. Most of the issues in the above browsers will be due to either screen resolution (fix recently deployed), or the sheer amount of data it's downloading. |

If you are getting a screen that looks like this: Click Here Your screen display is too small and the button is below the screen frame. Try stretching your screen or shrinking your resolution till you see it.
Still working on other issues. |

Complaining things aren't working correctly but not giving details on your browser, O/S, etc to help us fix the issue makes me a sad panda.
Details or shoo till someone else fixes the issue. And instead of cluttering up this thread, please send them to me through PM. We also have a Website Help forum for problems. I haven't seen anyone post there yet. Just a thought. Thanks. |

There is also the more descriptive information under the DESCRIPTION button on the left side, but you don't have to click that unless you want to learn more coolness. |

So I don't know how many people have noticed this (I didn't catch it at first either, and Craig pointed it out for me.) But if you click the little buttons next to the video, you can get a longer description of each origin, screens from the origin, and a wallpaper like the Dalish one for each... |

They give general backgrounds on each of the origins. Nothing too spoilerish. |

Title: Looking for an editor
Date: Saturday, 07 February 2009 10:06PM
For the past month or two I haven’t been updating this site very often - sorry about that. Is there anyone out there interested in being an editor? Perhaps you already visit multiple times a day anyway: the main job is just to categorise the dev posts. Beyond that previews and new videos need to be added.
Please email me at sendu@sendu.me.uk if you’d like to help out. |

Title: Recent downtime
Date: Friday, 21 November 2008 11:48PM
Just a note to acknowledge the recent flakiness of this website over the last few days. There may be a few more problems to come over the coming days as well, but the website should be working most of the time and will soon be back to its usual reliable self.
Thanks for your patience, and apologies for the troubles. |
