Most of the content of Dragon Age Central has been developer posts to the official Dragon Age forums, first opened in May 2004. But all things must come to an end, and these forums were shut down on 2nd November 2009, the day before the game’s release in North America.

Since I haven’t had time to add much other content to the site for most of 2009, I’ve decided to also shut down Dragon Age Central as it was, leaving it here as an archive.

The new Dragon Age Central is now a much simpler (and fully automated) website dedicated to making developer posts to the new official forum (on Bioware’s social site) easier to find and search through.

It’s been interesting running this site, and in a way I’ll miss it... but hopefully I’ll be too busy finally playing the actual game to care :)

A couple things to note/summarize:

All NPCs start with one specialization allocated. You can choose any unlocked, class-appropriate specialization for their second one once it is available to be allocated.

The player starts without any specializations allocated. You get to allocate both of their specializations.

All mages have access to Heal, Regenerate, Rejuvenate and Mass Rejuvenate. Morrigan does not start with any of these, but can learn them as she levels up. Any mage can heal but only a spirit healer excels at it.

Depending on how you play, and what difficulty you are playing on, you can play without a spirit healer.

Which of the joinable NPCs do you think (or, if you're a dev, know) was the first conceived as a character for the game?
For joinable NPC's? I'd say possibly Wynne or Zevran -- certainly they have survived most recognizably from their first concepts. If you're talking about which character role was first conceived, then probably Morrigan.
Quote: On the other hand, this makes it look like an early draft of the Tower of Ishal quest (the very first main plot one after origin convergence).
That old tech demo was put together before any of the world or characters were conceived. Those characters on the screen are simply "barbarian guy" and "enchantress". Although I guess we could make claims as to how they evolved into the other characters and we meant it all along... yeah, that's the ticket... wink smile

Sorry, folks. While informative (I certainly learned something new), this is not DAO related. Feel free to discuss this in Off-Topic.

So not only have I been awake FAR too long, am in a strange foreign country where people don't speak English, but I hear you monkeys have somehow gotten into the Wardens' Quest scoring system and are questioning what happened with the first elimination and why the Czech Republic/Slovakia team went first.

Some of you have crunched numbers and think that the math did not indicate that CR/S should have been chosen. What you do not know is that ALL teams, after they finished their Origin story, had their scores zeroed. This was done as it made for an even start to the Wardenss Quest for all teams. During their Origin play they were allowed to play as long or as deeply as possible. To balance play, it was zeroed and reset so everything was fair from that point on.

Now that I have hopefully cleared that up, I better get back to the Wardens Quest. Chat more post event (and post sleep).

Upsets happen all the time in any comp.

You constantly see good teams getting eliminated by sudden death situations like that in every sport.

Maybe they were the first to kill the ogre because of excessive potion use, which would of hurt them drastically in the long run.

Maybe they charged through and didn't loot as much or didn't do side quests. I didn't catch the first part. But in Dragon Age, faster isn't always better. razz smile

Sorry, that's just way too great of an invitation for this thread to get out of hand. Suffice it to say that they are two completely different games and that comparing them is very difficult to do. If you want to discuss something a little more specific about the game, please try again.

End of line.

The Xbox save functions in pretty much the same way as the PC.

You open up the menu, and select save. Choose a slot, and then it saves.

There are also autosaves at pre-determined locations.

You cannot save in combat, cutscenes, or conversations.

I'm assuming you can quick save?

On the PC you can quicksave, yes. On the console, you have to use the menu option.

Thread: does Dog count as one of the three additional party members, or is he a special fourth companion?  [+2]

To be honest, while Dog isn't part of my "Dream Team" tactically (I'm not going to give details into said team, to avoid spoiling tactical information discovery for people), many of my favorite conversations in the game, involve Dog. Usually Dog and another party member, but not always (minor spoiler - there's an *awesome* conversation with Dog that can trigger in Denerim, if he's in your party).

That said, everyone has their personal favorites and dislikes (Leliana drives me nuts, and is a common favortie of several people on the team, for instance).

You may love Dog (in a non-romantic way), or Hate him... it will depend heavily on your preferences, obviously razz smile

Yes, the DLC content is region-locked to NA or Europe.

Sony actually has seperate companies/divisions for Europe (SCEE) and North America (SCEA), with seperate + different rules and requirements that have to be followed for each region.

Sorry frown smile
