Dragon Age: Thread View

Halloween is coming and I love Halloween. For me, it is right up there with Christmas and International Talk Like A Pirate Day. And this year, it happens to be really close to the launch of Dragon Age: Origins.

To help celebrate, I want the Dragon Age Community to send in Halloween themed Dragon Age: Origins art/images. This can be pretty much any visual Dragon Age work (a hand drawn image of zombie Morrigan, picture of a DA:O carved pumpkin, picture of you in your Alistair/Morrigan/Dog costume, photoshop, clay sculpture, etc) that:
a - is your image. No copying or using other people's work
b - has not been submitted to BioWare before
c - must be obviously Dragon Age related (so no "but that could be a monster in DA" or picture of True Blood with a DAO logo slapped on it)
d - must be "Halloween"-ey. It can be serious and scary, it can be funny, whatever, but must incorporate Halloween (scare, trick or treat, pumpkins, etc).
e - some effort needs to be made. I can make my own really bad crayon stick figures.
f - keep things tasteful.

All entries must be sent to bulletin@bioware.com and must be received BEFORE 11:59 PM Sunday October 18 (So at the end of Sunday. Anything submitted on Monday or after is disqualified).All submissions will be displayed on the Community Flickr account and Dragon Age: Origins Facebook page.

Now why do you want to send in your art and/or images? Well, aside from it being a cool thing to do and Halloween being awesome, I have 2 EXCEPTIONALLY cool items to give away.

I have 2 copies of the Dragon Age: Origins European press edition (without the game discs, sorry) as seen in this video: Click Here to give away. You get the EXCLUSIVE book that was only given out to a very select few journalists in Europe. You get the book with all of the incredible art and text (in English), the audio introduction from Ray & Greg and the amazing cloth map that wraps the whole thing together. Again, even members of the DA:O Dev team don't have these, they are SUPER rare.

I will give these away randomly to 2 people (one to each person) who submit something. This isn't a "who can draw best" or whatever, anyone who puts in some effort may randomly be selected. This is open to everyone and I'll send the winners their prize no matter where they live.

So, get working on your submission. You can enter as many times as you want, but each submission needs to be unique to be counted.

I did specify that some effort needs to be shown and that all submissions will be posted to the Flickr and Facebook pages. I do expect some work for submissions. Someone attaching a crayon to the cat and having her run across paper then saying "This is a DAO Ogre" is not going to be considered.

I am making the giveaway a random aspect as I personally cannot "art". If I wanted to enter this, I would not be able to as, well frankly, I suck at art. Still, I could put some hours into drawing a picture or carving a pumpkin or photoshopping up an image and submit it. If I went head to head with, say, BioWare Senior Artist Dean Anderson on a quality level, my art would definitely look childish and untrained, but the point is that I tried my best to enter something I can be reasonably proud of.

If you can't draw/paint whatever, you can still try to carve a pumpkin, model with clay, submit a picture of a costume, etc.

This is not an "art" contest. This is a visual medium contest.

Yes, edited pictures of screenshots or wallpapers are fine.

Yep. As mentioned in the original post (Does no one read what I write anymore? Where's the love? Oh.... here it is. Nevermind), I will be putting all submissions up on Flickr.

The deadline for submissions has indeed ended. I am working on putting up the pictures on Flickr now.

I'll have the names of who gets the giveaways later today once the Flickr pis are ready. Stay tuned.

We had 107 usable submissions (only 1 had to be disqualified to to formatting and a few that verged on the obscene) ranging from comic strips to carved pumpkins to someone who looks like they tattooed themselves (!).

We have randomly selected 2 winners for the Dragon Age: Origins European books and they have been emailed (at the email addys they sent the submissions from). The winners were done by randomly selecting 2 numbers picked by a random BioWare staffer (not me). The randomly selected winning images were "Leia" and "Dwarf Pumpkin".

Thanks to all of you talented Dragon Age fans for your submissions and congratulations to the 2 lucky artists.

Sorry, but I did not receive it. I only had one submission that day and it was a drawing of a pumpkin abomination.
